Our Story
The story of Stonebelt Cabinets begins in 1991, when Leonid Jochai immigrated to the United States to escape the turmoil in the Republic of Georgia and the region as whole. Starting his entire life from scratch was daunting to say the least but he worked tirelessly to survive and to obtain permission for his family to enter the United States as political refugees fleeing from war. Before too long he found a way to put his expertise to work.
After five years of managing a custom cabinetry facility in Los Angeles, Leonid purchased a few used machines and started creating custom woodwork as a sole proprietor. Twelve years of amazing craftsmanship and hundreds of elated customers later, Leonid partnered with his son Alex to create a company that defies the norm to bring unmatched customer service at each step. At Stonebelt Cabinets, everything is focused on full satisfaction of the customer, which in turn fuels growth and stability through word-of-mouth and reviews left throughout the online community.
LEONID JOCHAI
Born and raised in the Ural Mountains in Siberia, Leonid Jochai has dedicated the majority of his life to woodworking and custom cabinetry. He obtained a Master of Science degree in engineering from the Ural Forest Technical Institute and began his professional career as a Head Engineer in the largest furniture and cabinet manufacturing plant in the Republic of Georgia. His greatest experience over the years has been in building custom cabinetry but he gets particularly thrilled with the challenge of building custom furniture and decorative woodwork, both as a hobby and often as a project for his customers. When he is not working Leonid enjoys spending time outdoors, especially walking or jogging at the beach.
ALEXANDER JOCHAI
Alex received his Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego and spent five years working as a financial analyst during the boom years in commercial real estate development. He left the real estate industry to pursue graduate studies in entrepreneurship at University of Southern California and to begin working towards his longtime dream of creating a successful family business. During his first year at USC Alex teamed up with his father to build a unique company defined and fueled by customer feedback documented throughout the online community.
