Custom closet cabinets can be built using a variety of styles and construction methods. The most common approach is to use European frame-less construction for the closet cabinetry (the portions of the closet cabinetry that incorporate doors and/or drawers) or flush inset construction, where the cabinetry is framed but the doors and drawer fronts are actually built to fit exactly into the opening. Materials and finishing play the most critical role for closet cabinetry due to the large amount of exposed surface area – using material that requires stain and lacquer or paint therefore increases the amount of labor required significantly.
